Message to Inventors: The first step to successful invention marketing is to give a potential partner some good reasons for investing time and energy in talking to you and learning more about your invention. You are afraid of being ripped off. The potential partner is afraid you'll claim rights to something they're already working on. The trick is to disclose the benefits of your invention without disclosing how your invention delivers those benefits. Disclose sizzle but withhold the steak.
