Football Gear Maker Loses Patent Fight - Files Bankruptcy

September 14, 2010 - Schutt Sports, an Illinois-based maker of football helmets and other sports gear filed for bankruptcy on Labor Day, a month after it was hit with more than $29 million in damages for violating a patent on helmets held by arch-competitor Riddell.
