KlingK KLAW Hits the Kickstarter of Japan

What a Makuake Launch Looks Like

KLAW on Makuake

One of Invention City's own products just went live on Makuake, Japan's leading crowdfunding platform — the Klingk KLAW.

What is Makuake?

Think of it as Japan's Kickstarter. Launched in 2013, Makuake is the country's largest crowdfunding marketplace for new products, with a community of enthusiastic early adopters actively hunting for the next great thing. A strong Makuake campaign is one of the most credible ways to break into the Japanese consumer market — and often serves as the on-ramp to broader retail and e-commerce distribution there.

The Numbers So Far

KlingK KLAW's Makuake campaign went live in late March 2026. In the first 12 hours alone, 150 units sold. As of now, the campaign has topped 1,056,550 yen raised — over 2,100% of its original funding target — with 249 supporters and still weeks left before the May 8th close.

KLAW is an amazing product in a seriously crowded category. It's been educational to see how our partner in japan has positioned the product.

The Bigger Picture

Getting a product to this point takes more than a good idea. It takes IP protection, manufacturing relationships, distribution agreements, and the patience to build market by market. Invention City has spent 25 years developing exactly that kind of infrastructure — and we use it for our own products as much as we do for the inventors we work with.

If you have an invention you believe in, we'd like to hear about it. We offer free licensing consideration submissions — no fee, no obligation, just an honest look at whether your idea is something we can take to market together.
